The 95th Street Beverly Hills Business Association, alongside the Morgan Park Beverly Hills Business Association, the Mount Greenwood Community & Business Association, and the Beverly Area Planning Association, recently attended two citywide events and brought back fresh ideas and perspectives to share with our local business community. As a manager of SSA #4 and a Neighborhood Business Development Center (NBDC), the 95th Street Beverly Hills Business Association participated in the annual SSA Forum presented by the Chicago Department of Planning and Development.
- SSA #33 Wicker Park/Bucktown shared the success of their rat birth control program, which has been underway for nearly a year.
- SSA #81 Auburn Gresham discussed their unique SSA structure that includes residential properties alongside major retailers, allowing for direct investment in neighborhood safety and beautification.
- SSA #42 71st/Stony Island highlighted how Collective Investment Vehicles (CIVs) helped support a vibrant new business incubator in their community.
Attending the forum provided valuable insight into creative programming and partnerships happening across the city and sparked new ideas for our own corridor.
At an NBDC Roundtable, local business owners and city representatives discussed sustaining legacy businesses, the evolving role of technology in small business operations, the importance of community engagement, and resources available through the Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection.
Thank you to the following local business owners for sharing their voices and perspectives during the roundtable discussion:
- Dawn Foster of Chicago Dollz Experience
- Josh Mercer of Allstate Insurance – Josh Mercer
