Farmers Market Shopping Guidelines

We are so excited to bring the 95th Street Farmers Market back for the 2020 season! We are determined to keep our market patrons as safe as possible, and we are required to follow health protocols established by the City of Chicago and the Chicago Department of Health in order to operate our market. Our guidelines also take into account the guidelines set by the State of Illinois and the CDC. Please be patient as we navigate these changes and know that our new protocols are in place to keep you safe and healthy. Our 95th Street Farmers Market Facebook page is our primary method for communicating with you, our patrons. Please follow the page to stay up to date on any modifications we make throughout the season.

What Should You Do Before You Visit the Market?

If you are experiencing cold or flu symptoms or are not feeling well we ask that you stay home. If you have a cough, shortness of breath, a loss of your sense of smell/taste and/or a fever we also ask that you refrain from attending the market.

Will There be Any Changes to Market Hours?

Our market will continue to operate rain or shine. We would like to reserve our first market hour from 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. for seniors and any other vulnerable individuals. Everyone else is welcome to shop from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

How Can You Help Us Manage Attendance at Our Market?

We are required to limit the number of shoppers inside the market at any one time. We appreciate you limiting the number of your family members attending the market to no more than two people from your household. Please do not bring your children to the market. We also ask that you refrain from bringing your dog to the market.

What Are My Responsibilities When I Attend the Market?

Please be prepared to wait in line if we are at our capacity for visitors to the market. We ask that you maintain a minimum distance of 6’ distance between people. We ask you to use the west entrance to enter the market and exit via the east driveway. Everyone who attends the market must wear a mask. All visitors must use the hand sanitizer at the market entrance and proceed through the market in one direction moving clockwise through the market lot. We ask that you do not congregate in the market lot.

What Will Look Different This Season?

Unfortunately, we are not able to host our community tent this season. We also won’t be able to offer entertainment, our children’s activities, yoga at the market, or our dining tent. We ask you to come in and make your purchases and then exit the market. You will not be permitted to eat on our market premises. Our vendors will not be able to offer samples this season. Our prepared food vendors will still be on site. However, they will prepackage items for you to take home.

Most importantly, we ask that you do not touch any produce at the market. Please let the vendors know what produce you would like, and they will select it for you. Please note that you should wash your produce when you get home as it is not ready to eat until it has been washed.

Electronic payment is preferred to minimize transactions with cash.
