The 95th Street Business Association, along with Ald. Matt O’Shea and one of our newest businesses, Miss Purl, invite you to participate in a knitting campaign this month to help people in need. Project Share the Warmth will bring together local knitters to make hand-made mittens that will be donated to those less fortunate during the holidays.
You do not need to be a veteran knitter to participate! The Chicago Public Library Beverly Branch will host weekly drop-in knitting nights to help participants complete their mittens. Pre-registration is requested for these helpful sessions.
To get started, stop in at Miss Purl’s knitting shop, 1824 W. 95th St., to purchase a mittens kit. The $15 kit includes a pattern, yarn, a project bag, and a 25% off coupon for those who need to purchase knitting needles.
With every pair of completed mittens we give away, we will include a coloring sheet completed by a local student. We will reach out to area schools and families, asking children to hand color the sheets as a festive touch to add to the mittens.
Project Share the Warmth will accept hand-made mittens created during the month of November. Please do not donate store-bought goods to this campaign. Thank you for your support!
