A familiar face to the 95th Street business community is taking on a new challenge.

Erin Ross, former Executive Director of the 95th Street Business Association, has announced her candidacy for 19th Ward Alderman in the 2027 municipal election.

Erin served as Executive Director of the 95th Street Business Association for more than a decade, working closely with business owners, property owners, community organizations and neighborhood partners to support and strengthen the 95th Street commercial corridor.

A Lasting Impact on 95th Street

During her years with the Business Association, Erin was involved in many of the programs, events and improvements that helped strengthen the connection between 95th Street businesses and the surrounding community.

Her relationships with local businesses continued well beyond ribbon cuttings and grand openings. Linda and Brian Flippin of Flippin Flavors shared:

“Erin Ross has been there for us ever since day one of opening Flippin Flavors. Through every celebration and every emergency, she has always been there.”

One of Erin’s most visible contributions to 95th Street can still be seen every Sunday during Farmers Market season.

Growing the 95th Street Farmers Market

When the 95th Street Business Association took over management of the longtime Farmers Market from the City of Chicago in 2015, Erin helped revitalize and grow the market, bringing in new vendors and expanding the experience to include live music, children’s activities, community organizations and other programming.

Many of those elements remain at the heart of the 95th Street Farmers Market today, which continues to bring neighbors to the district throughout the season and provides a place for local businesses, farmers, food producers and community organizations to connect with the community.

During her tenure as Executive Director, Erin Ross helped grow the 95th Street Farmers Market with new vendors, live music, children’s activities and community programming.

Erin’s work extended beyond the Farmers Market. Throughout her time with the Association, she built relationships with local businesses and community organizations and worked alongside other neighborhood leaders on initiatives benefiting 95th Street and the 19th Ward.

A New Chapter

After leaving the Business Association, Erin joined the 19th Ward Office, where she currently serves as Chief of Staff to Alderman Matt O’Shea.

Earlier this month, O’Shea announced that he will not seek reelection after four terms representing the 19th Ward. He has endorsed Erin in the race to succeed him.

For the 95th Street Business Association, Erin’s candidacy is especially noteworthy because of her many years of service to the district and the relationships she built with businesses and community partners throughout her time with the Association.
